125 words to encourage children

Every student needs to hear words of encouragement. Students believe what we tell them, so positive words can be a powerful tool for all students, not just those struggling. What we say to the kids helps them develop the internal “voice”. Research shows that children who grow up hearing encouraging words are highly self-motivated and less concerned about others. Nowadays, using words of encouragement can help children’s confidence tomorrow.

How to use encouraging words
Sometimes what you say is as important as what you say. Use these three tips when using words to encourage children.
Focus on hard work
Children need to know that they have an impact on the outcomes in life. This builds their growth mindset and helps them develop the durability they need to meet challenges.
specific
General encouragement (“good job,” “that’s great”) doesn’t give students any information they need to know what they are doing and how to get better. Add statements to tell students what you like, such as “you are so creative” or “I like how you deal with this.”
Avoid excessive improvement
Praise can be a good thing. If a child hears too much praise, or too much praise, has nothing to do with what they do, it may lose the effect you want. When there are too many children, they may think they don’t have to try again.
