350 Israeli authors call for an end to the Gaza war

The Israel Times reported on Tuesday that about 350 Israeli authors signed a letter calling for an end to the devastating war in Gaza.

Signatories include famous writers such as David Grossman, Joshua Sobol and Zeruya Shalev.

“This war endangers the lives of the hostage IDF soldiers and causes horrific suffering for helpless civilians in Gaza,” the letter said.

“The acts carried out in Gaza and the occupied territories are not done in our name, but they will be in our account.”

The signatories called for an immediate end to the military operations against the Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement, the return of hostages kidnapped to the Gaza Strip and international agreements on the future of the Gaza Strip.

The author accuses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of continuing the war for personal reasons.

There are several similar calls within the military, demanding an end to the war and reaching an agreement with Hamas to release the hostages.

The Gaza war was triggered by an Israeli attack on Israel and other extremist groups on October 7, 2023, with about 1,200 people killed and more than 250 Israelis were taken hostage and detained in the Gaza Strip.

Since then, about 51,000 people have been killed, a large proportion of which are women and minors, according to health authorities in the Gaza Strip. This information cannot be verified independently, which cannot distinguish between combatants and civilians. Israel talks about about 20,000 terrorists killed.
