There was only one round at the 2025 U.S. Open, and contenders are now at the top of the rankings. Sam Burns held a consistent lead in Adam Scott and JJ Spaun, while only seven players in the lead five goals.

Sam Burns stays inside
Burns has five PGA Tour victories on his resume, but he has never been to a big championship. In fact, Burns only had the top 10 in the Grand Slams in the previous 20 games, finishing T9 last year at Pinehurst.
But Burns was fired on Friday in a five-foot-five hissing of under 65, and he hung on Saturday, and he fired 69 courage to keep the lead.
Adam Scott’s main opportunity
It’s been 12 years since Adam Scott’s major breakthrough in the 2013 Masters, and the 44-year-old can now be the second-largest U.S. Open champion.
Scott has been a world-class player for over two decades, amassing 20 top 10 in major tournaments over his career. Could this be the last best chance for Australian glory?

But in two quarters, his T11 and eight-shot guard entered the final round. Arnold Palmer won the U.S. Open’s biggest ever comeback record in his final round at Cherry Hills in 1960. Scottie’s victory on Sunday will require a historic performance. But we will never say that it involves the world’s number one.

Currently, there are only two main winners in the top 11 on the rankings: Scott (-3) and Scheffler (+4).
For everyone else, winning the challenge this week in Oakmont will mark their chief championship.
Viktor Hovland is three shots. JJ Spaun is a shot. Carlos Ortiz was four shots, while Thriston Lawrence and Tyrrell Hatton were five shots.

The weather forecast will add difficulties to Oakmont on Sunday as the threat of rain and thunderstorms will linger throughout the afternoon. Wind may also be a factor for the final group, with gusts expected to reach 18 mph as the day takes place. buckle!
