8 Red Crescent Doctor’s Bodies Recycled in Gaza, 1 Still Missing

The Red Cross said the bodies of eight Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) doctors who were just slammed in Gaza a week ago have been recovered, although there is still no responsibility for the ninth worker.

In a statement late Sunday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it was “shocked” when it died.

“Their bodies were confirmed today and have been recovered to the solemn funeral. These staff and volunteers are risking their lives to support others,” the ICRC said.

Palestinian Red Crescent said it also recovered the bodies of six civil defense members and a UN employee from the same area. It said Israeli forces targeted workers. The Red Cross state’s statement did not blame the attack on blame.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC) said a worker from the nine Red Crescent Groups has not been held responsible. The group disappeared on March 23.

Competition Proposition

An investigation found that on March 23, troops opened fire on a group of vehicles, including ambulances and fire trucks, when the vehicles approached the post without prior coordination, without headlights or emergency signals.

It said several militants belonging to the militant group Hamas and Islamic Jihad were killed.

“The IDF condemns the repeated use of civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, including medical facilities and ambulances for terrorist purposes,” it said in a statement.

It does not directly comment on the deaths of the Red Cross workers.

The incident has been the deadliest attack on Red Cross Red Crescent workers since 2017, the IFRC said.

“I’m heartbroken. These dedicated ambulance workers responded to the injured. They are humanitarians,” said IFRC Secretary General Jagan Chapagain.

He added: “They wear signs that should protect them; they clearly marked their ambulance.”

According to the United Nations, at least 1,060 health workers have been killed in the 18 months since Israel attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

Global agencies have reduced their international workforce in Gaza by one third due to employee safety concerns.
