Spain and Portugal will soon be soaked in an anomaly called “blood rain” that can paint everything in a layer of dust and dirt as the weekend approaches.
The rainfall will cause a cloud of dust from Africa to merge into Western Europe with the storm later this week. Dust will mix with rain, causing the dust to appear red or rusty orange when it falls.
The sky may also have orange or tan, making it creepy for anyone who ventures out in the dirty rain.
Not only the colors of the rain will vary.
The dust from the raindrops will stick to cars, buildings, sidewalks and anything outside. As the rain escapes or evaporates, it will leave a dirty surface.
This phenomenon is also called “mud rain” due to the dust and dirt left behind.

Air quality may also be reduced after dusty rain, which may overlap with the outdoor activities related to Semana Santa, which begins Sunday, April 13.
