What did the officials find
Background story
With the assistance of the Neuquén Cultural Heritage Bureau, members of Ras Rajas Squadron 31 worked hard to safely restore the fossils and were later identified as belonging to a fish-hair, a marine reptile that lived in the Mesozoic era.
According to the British Encyclopedia, fish and insects are relatives of dolphin-like aquatic reptiles and distant lizards and snakes. They flourished millions of years ago, when most of the earth was covered by the ocean and was known for its streamlined body and powerful tail, suitable for swims quickly.
Although details about the age and status of the fossils are still emerging, experts say the discovery contributes to the rich paleontological record of the region.
