JA solar power starts 1GW dark blue solar module for Inner Mongolia project

JA Solar has begun transferring the 1GW DeepBlue 4.0 Pro high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) module to the Suji Sandland PV project in Urad Front Banner in Inner Mongolia.

The initiative is part of China’s third-stage wind and solar infrastructure projects and is aligned with the global carbon neutrality goal, focusing on ecological restoration in areas that are vulnerable to desertification.

The Suji Sandland PV project will cover 42,000 acres and is expected to generate 2.96 billion kWh of electricity per year.

This will result in a savings of about 900,000 tons of standard coal per year and a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 2.68 million tons. The project is expected to be completed this year.

In addition to generating capacity, the project also adopted a groundbreaking “PV + Ecological Restoration” approach, leveraging module bottom planting to build micro ecosystems and combat desertification.

The introduction of JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro module represents a significant advancement in converting barren land into sustainable clean energy, which helps the region move toward greener practices.

Aiqing Yang, executive president of JA Solar, said: “The project demonstrates how advanced PV technology can contribute to clean energy and ecological restoration in harsh desert environments.

“Our DeepBlue 4.0 Pro module helps turn a lot of sand into a valuable green asset that supports environmental goals.”

The DeepBlue 4.0 Pro module is designed for reliable performance in harsh environments and shows encouraging results in comparable desert projects such as Kubuqi Desert, Ulan Buh Desert and Horqin Sandy Land.

The module is specially designed to endure strong UV radiation, conventional dust storms and obvious temperature changes, which often threaten photovoltaic projects in desert areas.

Recently, JA Solar has provided 1GW N-type PV modules for the pilot project for development as part of the 12GW Ulan Buh Desert Newert New Energy Base project in China.

“JA Solar Begins Delivery for the 1GW DeepBlue Solar Module of Inner Mongolia Project” was originally created and published by GlobalData-owned brand Power Technology.
