She has always loved to connect with everyone, and her love for the Philippines is speechless,” Konopka’s boyfriend, Fernandowritten by Facebook last month. “Again, I can only ask for your prayers so that God can bring comfort to the hearts of loved ones. I believe in him, I know he is with Vanessa, I know God is always with us.”
Fernando shared a photo of Konopka, smiling for selfies as she stood in the water next to the boat. In another image, Konopka raises her hand while posing in front of the plane.
“Kushka, if you might be reading this somewhere, thank you so much for teaching me how to love myself what it doesn’t matter what others think, she showed me how to love myself and how to follow my dreams!” he concluded. “I will love you forever and we may see each other again.”

Vanessa was hospitalized in the Philippines in December 2024, Fernando explained in GoFundMe, which was created earlier this year. He noted that Vanessa was diagnosed with “severe liver damage and pneumonia, which made her very weak”.

“She is still in the hospital, unable to eat properly, walking and even talking easily. She needs emergency treatment to recover enough strength to fly back to Germany in a normal flight. Now, a medical ambulance (which would be the safest option) will be the safest option – over 200,000 euros, which is out of reach for her and her family,” Gofundme read.
GoFundMe continues: “We are working to raise funds to pay for her medical expenses and any other care she may need to stabilize her condition. No matter how young you are, you can provide anything to Vanessa and her family.”

In February, Fernando shared Vanessa “out of danger” and was reunited with her mother, the couple in Boracay.
“They will wait a few more days until Vanessa becomes strong enough that she can return to Germany for treatment,” he explained. “We thank all your prayers, all donations, all words of support. God will bless you all.”
