On a spring morning, a little girl named Fern Farming gave her a pig and she gave him Wilbur’s name. She treated him as a pet, but a month later, Wilbur was no longer young and was sold to Fern’s uncle, Homer Zachman. In Zuckerman’s Barnyard, Wilbur is eager to be with him but is rejected by other animals. He was friends with him by a barn spider named Charlotte, whose web sat at the door overlooking the Wilbur fence. When Wilbur discovered that he was slaughtered, she promised to develop a plan that would guarantee her life. Fern often sat on a stool and listened to the animals’ conversations, but as she began to mature, she discovered other interests.

As the summer passed, Charlotte pondered how to save Wilbur. Finally, she proposed a plan and continued to implement it. Charlotte believes Zachman won’t kill a famous pig, Charlotte weaves a text or short phrase that praises Wilbur into her network, making the barn and pig (pig) (a tourist destination), which the network considers to be miracle. Accompanied by Charlotte and Rat Templeton, Wilbur failed to win the Blue Ribbon but was awarded a special award by the judge. Charlotte died like Barn Spiders in the fall, heard a speech on the public broadcast system, and knew the award meant that Zuckerman would cherish Wilbur for as long as the life of a pig and would never kill him for his flesh. Instead of returning to the farm with Wilbur and Templeton, she stayed at the fair and died, she had Wilbur carry egg sacs with her children who would hatch in the spring.

Wilbur waits for the winter and he will not survive, but for Charlotte. He is happy when the tiny spiders hatch, and when most people leave the barn, he is shocked. Three more live in Charlotte’s old doorstep. Wilbur happily named one of Nellie in order to find a new friend, while the remaining two names themselves Joy and Aranea. In the following years, other generations of spiders kept him in the company.
