Mon Mothma’s Senate Floor Speech Changes Star Wars Canon

One of the most important moments Ando Fans wait for this week’s hit episode Star Wars series. In the final episode, after the clash against Gorman, Mon Mothma takes the Senate to file an outrageous prosecution for the true tyrannical rule of Emperor Palpatine. It solidified Mon Mothma’s rebellious leadership in the public sphere Star Wars Rebels.
The new scene is her companion speech to Yavin on her way with Squadron King, which is directed to Palpatine, while those efforts to keep his grace free from fear. Actress Genevieve O’Reilly and showcase creator Tony Gilroy talks with Entertainment Weekly about the moment when Mon’s life trajectory changes forever.
The character declared in his speech: “The monster that will come for us soon is Emperor Palpatine.”
“[Mon] Knowing that it’s time to use her weapon, that’s her voice, she has to use it and influence as much as possible. ”
O’Reilly went on to explain what she wanted to make sure she was doing all the time. “That’s everything I hoped for,” she told EW. “It’s like the best gift you can get as an actor. She talks about the importance of the Senate to her. You can see it’s like her church. She reveals a lot and then she shouts out some very cruel truths.”
“I know it’s important to the fans. I know it’s important to me to her, too. That’s the fulcrum of who Mon Mothma is there. So at that moment, I have to stand up for her. It’s really important to me and I hope it’s meaningful to people because it’s meaningful to people because it feels really great to be able to give her this voice.”
Yes, it’s different from what was previously in the animation Canon. Gilroy admits: “In a very sneaky way, we take everything they do Star Wars Rebelsbut we remain consistent. We’re just saying the whole story you really don’t know what happened. ”
O’Reilly asks Gilroy to expand on what was initially cut between other moments in the final scene of the plot, because she knows Mon’s character is going to go all out.
“In a day or two, he brought the whole speech,” she explained. “He gave it to me, and the idea was that I would learn it, and then they would just do those moments. Then, I went to the director and the director was like, ‘Yes, let’s shoot the whole speech.’ To me, it was so special.”
