The world may be dark and confusing, but at least Rick and Morty Finally back. Season 8 is a year and a half after nearly half a year after the end of 2023, marking the end of the first outing for new stars Ian Cardoni (Rick) and Harry Belden (Moti). Fans can’t help but spend most of the listening experience in Season 7 Very Closely connected, the voice behind the main characters of the search show changed. But the transition is seamless, and Season 8 continues that feeling – hearing all the ways Cardoni and Belden extend their characters.
IO9 is able to watch episode 1 (“Summer of All Fears”), three (“Rick, Mott, and Ugly”), four (“Jerry’s Last Temptation”) and five (“Frozen the Feet”) – No, we don’t know why adult swimming swims in episode 2 (“valkirick”), but none of us will have anything, none of us will be commented on.
We’ve seen most of the episodes of trademarks Rick and Morty “The small or ordinary thing spirals into ridiculously messy torture and has the consequences of life or death.” These include the season’s premiere, as Morty and summer’s lasting survival pain is crimes for not returning to Rick’s phone charger; in the fourth episode, Jerry’s passion for celebrating Easter first stimulates his family and then causes a galaxy crisis. In episode 5, Rick’s determination to steal deep space brings (naturally) the slightest disaster to stop him.
These stories may follow classics Rick and Morty Upgraded plot structures, but they are also filled with the pleasure that makes the show so reliable: vivid animations, clever writing (never collected so many puns related to phone chargers in a season’s premiere), weird tangents and outrageous body horror. There is also a consistent feeling that scripts are committed to character development, and even if they mock the characters themselves, they are interested in exploring how the relationships of the show help drive the twists and turns along the way of decision making and drawing.
The latter element is particularly evident in Beth and the summer scenes of episode one. Beth is always torn between being a “cool mom” and command, having a whole new perspective on her teenage daughter. “Summer of All Fear” also digs out the ongoing sibling competition between Summer and Morty – a conflict that seems always resolved based on the fact that no one else will. once Learn about this is part of Grandpa Rick’s plan and adventure.
But the show is called Rick and Morty For some reason, after all these times, the pattern between the two feels familiar, and Season 8 finds new ways to challenge them. It also admits that Rick experienced unlikely but undeniable character growth in Season 7. “You’re really changing!” Morty said excitedly when Rick declared that he had no problems, Morty was actually right about something – there was some continuity in defense.
Although they are no longer novel this time, the changes behind the scenes are worth pointing out, especially when it comes to the four outstanding plots offered: “Rick, Mott, and Ugly.” Fans who think we’re seeing the show (especially after Season 7, Rick Prime’s fate is closed), and Cardoni and Belden seem to absolutely explode the different Rick and Morty variants in their performances.
