Angel logo Chris Taylor, option Kyren Paris

4:19 pm: Angel officially announced Taylor’s signing, Paris was demoted to Triple A.

4:00 pm: Angels will sign utility players Chris Tayloraccording to Ken Rosenthal of competitive sports. HALOS has not officially announced yet, but Rosenthal said Taylor will play in midfield tonight when the club faces the Yankees, so it seems he is jumping on the roster and entering the roster. Angel has an open position of 40 people after right-handed Sean Anderson Recently assigned as a job. Jeff Fletcher, outfielder, according to Orange County Register Karen Paris As the corresponding active lineup move, it will be selected.

Taylor, 34, has been a useful player for many years with the Dodgers. He bounced on the diamonds, stole the base, and was above average on the board. The Dodgers took these contributions seriously enough to re-sign Taylor before the 2022 season, a four-year, $60mm deal. Unfortunately, Taylor’s work has dropped in recent years, which has reduced his game time. He couldn’t climb out of his hole when he got stuck in a part-time show, so the Dodgers released him a week ago.

The Dodgers are still fighting for the remaining price of Taylor’s $13mm salary this year, and the 4mm acquisition of Taylor’s $12mm 2026 Club Club option. This makes the angel a low buy action. They just have to pay Taylor’s minimum limit for any time he spends on the roster, and the Dodgers pay less.

It is presumably that Halo hopes that giving Taylor some normal game time will help him get back on track. From 2017 to 2021, he reached .265/.343/.461 at 116 WRC+, stealing 50 bases in the game while playing all positions except first base and battery. But since then, he has .222/.307/.369 lines and 90 WRC+. Last year, he fell to the .202/.298/.300 line and 74 WRC+. He has fallen so far in 2025, with the .200/.200/.257 line and 23 WRC+.

Taylor’s versatility essentially makes him a more experienced version of the Paris experience, seeing time as a second baseman, shortstop, midfielder and left fielder in three MLB seasons. Paris played 36 games with the Angels in the first two seasons, but he has a longer appearance this year, entering 43 games, while most switched between second base and midfield.

It seems Paris cemented his regular position as a roster at a hot start, but his bats cooled down significantly after the first two weeks of the season. Over 140 PA, Paris hit 59 times, his slash dropped to .190/.266/.381 and six home runs. Sometime in minors may help Paris stabilize the plate, it should be noted that Paris has only 37 professional games at the Triple-A level (all in 2024). Angels made their debut by calling Paris to debut in 2023, which seems to be a triple A in Paris.
