Welcome to our weekly PGA Tour Gambling Competition column, which includes the draft picks of Golf.com’s expert prophet Brady Kannon. Kannon is an experienced golf pitcher and commentator, host and regular guest at Sportsgrid, a joint voice network dedicated to sports and sports betting and is a golf betting analyst at CBS Sportsline. You can follow Brady on Twitter @lasvegasgolferyou can read his draft picks next week at the 2025 US Open in Oakmont next week.
Next week is approaching, and the World of Golf will enter the quasi-anniversary of the U.S. Open Championship, which will hold its 10th record-breaking record at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. If you want to buy a celebration stone for your loved one for this, there is no recognized 125th anniversary, but it celebrates 100 years with 10 carat diamonds, while the 25-year Jubilee is recognized in silver.
I guess the Rolling Stones didn’t point to this notable golf milestone, when they sing, “You get silver, you get gold, you get diamonds…”, but the winner of the 125th U.S. Open will receive a cup trophy of about 9 pounds.
I started betting on who will win this year’s championship in January. This season, I held the first two options after the end of Farmers Insurance Open and Genesis Inspirational at Torrey Pines.
Harris English (150-1); Best Current Odds: 110-1
We landed in English correctly that week and won La Jolla 110-1. I know not only about English’s history at the U.S. Open, but also about Torrey Pines being the two-time host of the main champion, I decided to stab. English never missed layoffs during the nine trips to the event. He finished fourth on Winged Foot in 2020, third on Torrey Pines in 2021, and eighth at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023. In 2025, in addition to the farmers’ victory, English ranked 12th in the Masters, finishing second in the Scottie Scheffler at the PGA Championship last month. For me, he’s a perfect mold for American prototype open players: hit it long, straight, hit the green, and make some putts. English ranks 29th in total driving, GIR ranks 62nd and 20th. Perhaps on the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Open English competition, he will receive a diamond, 10 carat diamond, silver and a sterling silver trophy.
Tommy Fleetwood (50-1); Best Current Odds: 40-1
A few weeks later, when he was fifth in Torrey Pines, I played Fleetwood, this time the Genesis Invitational, which moved from the Riviera Country Club due to the fire in the Pacific Palisades. The best major in Fleetwood’s career is the U.S. Open. He also competed in nine matches. He missed only two advancements and had three top five, including the runner-up at Shinnecock Hills in 2018. He has played 12 games on the tour this season, but has not missed the layoffs yet. Recently, he finished fourth on two very American open tracks at Colonial CC and Philadelphia Cricket Club. He finished the top 20 eight times in the 12 starts in 2025. Fleetwood ranked 67th in total driving, finishing 11th, 11th, 48th in the draft and 48th.
Sepp Straka (66-1); Best Current Odds: 55-1
I did this drama at the end of May before the commemorative competition began. At the time, Straka recently won the TRUIST Championship, his second win of the season. I believe all my early choices are what I pointed out before, typical American open-ended players, and Straka is no exception. He isn’t too long tee, but his accuracy is deadly, ranking 37th on the tour, earning Tee: Off Tee. He finished second in second place: approach and 16th place. Straka was third in the memorial that week, his fifth place in the season, including two wins. Straka does not include two wins and a top ten match, but has won another top 15.
We will get the final card next week.
