Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn

Madison, Wisconsin – European Ryder Cup captain and teammates Darren Clarke and Thomas Bjorn won the U.S. Family Insurance Championship on Sunday, hitting 64 shots by 64 in a better ball game, scoring four-pointers.
The competition was hosted by Steve Stricker, who tied for second place with brother-in-law Mario Tiziani, turned to the team format this year, making the PGA Tour champion the only team event.
Clarke and Bjorn ended with 32 shots below 181 below the Wisconsin TPC. They opened with a better ball 59 and shot 58 in Saturday’s scramble.
“We’re just focused on not doing anything stupid,” Clark said. “Like everything we do, we can try to give ourselves two putts, two chances, both hitting the fairway, and we did.”
Clarke, 56, from Northern Ireland, won his fifth tour of 50 and above. Bjorn, 54, from Denmark, won his first championship.
“We are both hardworking workers,” Bjorn said. “And obviously Darren and I, we’ve known each other for over 30 years, and have been on tour together, played Ryder Cup together, and did a lot of things together. It’s special to do it together.”
Stricker and Tiziani finished with a 65-shot score, matching Alex Cejka-Soren Kjeldsen (59), Doug Barron-Dicky Pride (69) and Steve Flesch-Paul Goydos (64).
Stricker played a role due to injury.
“My body is not feeling good,” Strick said. “There are some things to deal with, please try to take care of it. I still like to play, but I don’t like how it feels like to play today.”
Bernhard Langer and Steven Alker are again and again after they are 63 years old.
