Daily robbery of thief using SUV to steal ATMs in downtown Los Angeles

Los Angeles police are searching for two men who stole the ATM in the wide downtown Nikko on Thursday.

According to Ktla, a security camera recorded the burglary, which occurred near a marigold dress on Olympic Avenue and Santee Street.

“A white SUV operated by masked individuals and subsequent masked passengers pulled the vehicle to the sidewalk in front of the business and stole the ATM in spacious sunlight about an hour ago,” LAPD said in a social media post.

Shop owner Zoila Barrales told KTLA that customers watched the people leaned their vehicles against the sidewalk next to the store.

“We have customers. There’s a family and a little girl,” she said. “My staff told them, ‘Get in.’ So they put all the customers in a fixed room because you never know.”

Video of the incident shows a man wearing a black mask dressed in all black, entering the store after the SUV returned, then re-entering the vehicle and leaving later.

The incident has made nerves even more troubled, Balales said, given the recent wave of attacks on downtown as protests and ongoing immigration attacks.

“With everything happening, it’s just a little bit more to the fear people have now,” she told KTLA.

Detectives are looking for any evidence to help identify the suspect.

“Anyone with mobile videos or surveillance videos is asked to call the Central Division to rob detectives,” the department’s social media post said.
