At least six people died after capsized in Lake Tahoe storm
At least six people died on a boat cap and swelling boat on Lake Tahoe Saturday afternoon, and two were still missing, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard press release said the ship was a 27-foot Chris-Craft that capsized near DL Bliss State Park in stormy conditions, causing 30 knots of wind and 6 to 8 feet of expansion.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene and said in a press release that it was informed of the situation before 5 p.m. Saturday, with callers reporting 10 people in the water. According to a press release, the emergency response team rescued two people who were taken to the hospital and recovered the bodies of six dead. The deceased’s name was not released, awaiting notification from relatives.
The rescue operation continued to be provided to two unreproached people on Sunday, sheriff’s officials said.
Sacramento TV News KCRA 3 captured videos of ships swaying violently in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday as heavy thunderstorms tied up the area. Sacramento Bees reported that the storm also left behind summer snowfall.
