Due to decades of climbing and loose regulations, some estimates still exist 50 tons of garbage on Mount Everest.

However, these unmanned aerial vehicles are used to try to clean up one of the most remote places in the world.

Nepal-based air transport technology is addressing the crisis by deploying drones to address the crisis in order to deliver both on the mountain and then eliminate waste on the way down.

After successfully piloting in 2024, the company estimates it has removed a ton of garbage between March and May 2025.

“…Of course, the main purpose is like bringing garbage, because thousands and tons of garbage are on Mount Everest (white flash), which means that, this is our main motivation for drone delivery on Mount Everest.”

The drone, made by Chinese manufacturers, is able to quickly transport up to 33 pounds of key supplies, including oxygen cylinders, ladders and ropes.

“Because it’s interesting that it takes 7 to 9 hours for climbers to go from base camp to a camp. Our drone can get there in 3 minutes. ”

This helps Sherpa in difficult parts of the hills, such as Khumbu Icefall, a dangerous passage covered with cracks and icebergs without a lot of equipment.

This is a welcome innovation from Nepalese mountaineer Nima Rinji Sherpa.

“I think it’s very interesting to some extent and very good because it’s impossible to cut the Khumbu Icefall to Colonel South. I think now, we are using these drones using air freight technology, which is very innovative, which can also save people’s lives and make it easier for everyone to throw out the garbage. ”

While other Mount Everest cleaning operations are underway, air freight technology hopes drones can provide new tools to address the scourge of garbage in the mountains.
