Trade deadline prospects: Colorado Rockies

MLBTR’s team looks at the upcoming trade deadline and continues to focus on the Colorado Rockies. General Manager Bill Schmidt’s club has achieved a staggering 37 wins this season, a sign that 23 of the other 29 clubs in the game have reached late June. The Rockies are a clear seller – or at least should be. ROX usually beats its own drums, but boss Dick Monfort seems to be particularly opposed to any massive sell-off.

Still, given the Rockies’ historic futility in 2025, expect them to move some veterans, and the hope of the fan base may be a non-characteristically active deadline in terms of selling.

Record: 18-62 (0% playoff odds per fangraphs)

Max has been the backbone of Rocky Mountain employees since trading in the 2015-16 offseason Cory Dickson to the ray. ROX has boycotted his deal in the past and signed him twice. He is now making 10mm in his first full season after Tommy John’s surgery. As of the deadline, the total amount of this amount is approximately 3.17 mm. Márquez started a bad start but scored a 3.21 ERA in 47 2/3 innings in his last nine games (although including six unearned money in his last start against the Dodgers). His strikeout rate of 17.6% at that span is far from peak level, but his command is good, with his average heater average speed above 95 mph. Many teams will consider Marquez’s speed and the record of missing bats and think they can turn him around further.
