Blue Jays released Spencer Turnbullaccording to the MLB.com transaction log. Assuming he clears the release save, he will return to free agent. Toronto designated veteran right on Wednesday for missions.
Turnbull has over five years of Major League Baseball (MLB) service and has the right to refuse a salary for missions (approximately 1.27mm). Jays didn’t get much from the modest investment. They lost their fifth starter Max Shezer The injured list was signed in early May. He had no signatures all winter and wasn’t ready to take part in the MLB action, so he spent over a month working on optional tasks on the game shape of the minor.
When Turnbull is ready to be summoned, Eric Lauer The club was impressed with the swing. Raul then mastered the fifth starting job, and remained in rotation even after Scherzer was activated. Bowden Francis Landed on the injured list. Turnbull only showed up three games – two reliefs and 1 abbreviation start – giving up 5 runs in 6 1/3 innings. He surrendered 12 hits, four walks and strikeouts.
Despite his short term, Turnbull’s fastball speed has dropped. He averaged 91 mph per hour after he was the Phillies swinger at the age of 92 last season. He did well in Philadelphia, working on the 2.65 ERA while beating 54 1/3 of the innings 26% of the batsmen. His 2024 season ended when he was under LAT pressure in late June.
