Didi Trial Judgment: Jury Denied Celebrity Influence

Jury Sean “Didi” comb After the trial, the trial broke the silence.
“We spent two days on the deliberation,” the juror who chose to be named said in a statement to ABC News on Thursday, July 3. “Our decision is based solely on the evidence presented and on the provisions of the law.”
The jurors added that Diddy’s celebrity status influenced their idea of decision-making “very insulting and derogatory to the jury and deliberation process.” The jury consisted of 12 people, including 8 men and 4 women.
“We will treat any defendant the same way no matter who they are. I have nothing to say,” the statement concluded.
Diddy, 55, is on trial after being arrested in September 2024. He was charged with sexual trafficking, extortion and transportation for prostitution. The shameful music tycoon pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied all charges against him.
“We are disappointed in the pursuit of what we believe is the decision of the U.S. Attorney’s Office to injustice prosecution by Mr. Combs,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo The statement at that time said. “He is an imperfect man, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs was nothing more than working with this investigation, and he moved to New York last week to look forward to these allegations. Please keep your judgment until you have all the facts.
Diddy began in May at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn before the trial. His four bail requests were denied by a judge Aron Subanaanian.
After weeks of testimony, the jury reviewed it for several days. On Wednesday, July 2, news broke that Didi was acquitted for allegations of extortion and sex trafficking, but was convicted of two counts of traffic charges and engaged in prostitution. Each count can be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years.
After the trial, Didi’s lawyers demanded the rapper’s immediate release. Agnifilo proposes Diddy will return to his home in Miami Beach, Sing Island, to pay $1 million bail and hand over his passport.
However, Judge Subramanian ruled Diddy would remain in jail until the sentencing is scheduled for October 3.
Diddy’s lawyers held a press conference outside the New York City building after leaving court Wednesday. Agnifilo shared that despite the result being a “huge victory”, they “didn’t finish the fight.”
