The ABC’s high-potential Season 1 finale offers viewers some answers about the disappearance of Rome and leaves us with more questions. In the season conclusion aired Tuesday, February 11, high potential confirmed that the former Romans of Kaitlin Olson are still alive after more than a decade of missing. Morgan doesn’t […]

“The first thing we tried to build in the writer’s room was a compelling case, and it would be a really good case to watch Morgan’s complex brain take you through, too,” he explained. “At that time, these wonderful detectives praised her. We knew the audience – we as writers – had a great interest in this mystery of serialization. But the challenge was that you don’t want the components of that serialization to go beyond these wonderful cases that the audience was looking forward to every week.”

Harthan continues: “It’s tricky to find this balance, which is why you have a bunch of people coming in and stay honest. They tell me, ‘If we reveal that, it really goes beyond the next episode and makes the balance uneasy.” So it’s tricky, it’s one of the harder parts of building each episode of the show. ”

“I did listen to fans, and I read their answers because I wanted to know what people like. It really affects what we talk about and what we pay attention to,” Harthan told us February, about the chance to have more plot expansion stories in Season 2. “I always count on 13 [episode order]. I like that this isn’t eight to 10 episodes of broadcasts, and you can add a few more hours. I usually draw 13 draws, and if they call me, then I have a chance to extend it and do some independent plot. ”

The story will only expand from here after Morgan’s ex was teased in his first season.

“We’ve talked about it, like, ‘Wow, we have time, hopefully the show is successful now, we can go find this actor or that actor.” But the truth is, I didn’t have a deep conversation with Kaitlin – she would have a strong opinion. us. “So the short answer is no. I have some favorites and actors that I really respect and it would be great.”

Harthan looks forward to bringing more characters into the role in Season 2, adding: “It’s just an opportunity for actors – not just a character with cameo stars – but a recurring role. We’ve never met Morgan’s parents.

According to Harthan, Olson has a cast. “Kaitlin attracted talent. There were a lot of people going, ‘Oh, can I perform with her? It looked like a really good time.’ They were right,” he continued. “She’s an explosion. But I hope you’re right [that there is actor interest in guest-starring on High Potential]. I want to see a list of people who want to dance with us. ”

Rome may not return immediately.

“I think frustration is a good thing for the audience. It’s a healthy frustration – don’t give them too much to want too early,” “I’d be totally lying if I say I have all the answers to this mystery. The wonder of welcome other brains to the room is how we make sure we don’t mess with this ball, and we tell the story in the most satisfying way. Some cool stuff comes though.”

Will Season 2 explore the romance of Morgan and Karadek?

Enter in one episode High potentialFans point out how the dynamics of Karadek and Morgan reminded them of other fictional couples who spent many years together in program performances.

“I’ll definitely say I don’t actually have the ultimate answer to where they’re going. As far as their will, they’re not-between Karadek and Morgan, it depends on our writer’s room,” Sunjata told us In November 2024. “I think they’re going to play a long game with a specific storyline.”

Sunjata said he did not rule out Karadek and Morgan’s exclusion – now even forever.

“Honestly, if we end up with five seasons, Karadek and Morgan can stay true to friends with mutual professional respect, who care so much about each other and maybe flirt with some kind of romantic interaction idea,” he noted. “But if it never happened, it’s also a really cool way.”

At the same time, Hasson is more inclined to explore what audiences react to.

“You will never know. I will not let my guardianship of those things. I will not be overconfident until your audience decides a lot of things you do. They have a big appetite for what?” Hasson shared with him. us About his plans for a potential couple that fans like the most. “I might be infamous because of the slow plan, but I like the slow burn. Like, selfish, I just like it.”

Hasson explained us He wasn’t sure how to explore the chemistry between Morgan and Karadek. “The biggest reason is because when you have this chemistry – and two great actors – I just feel like there are a lot of different story paths,” he explained. “We can fall down early in the show. My love for them is that this budding friendship starts breeding that loyalty and then breeding that unconditional friendship, people are willing to sacrifice almost everything to support each other. I love that charm.”

He added: “We’re going to write for a while. Even if you fall in love with someone at some point, maybe you prefer this partnership and friendship. Maybe you’re scared of the risk of going past certain lines. … There’s a lot of life in this show and I want to make sure we stay on the table with good stories on the table.”

How does the new big bad guy work?

The Season 1 finale introduces David Giuntoli as a serial kidnapper with potential – puns – to be the “Serialized Big Bad Guy” of Season 2.

“We don’t want it [that story] So dark, so abusive and cruel that you become a feeling like a departure from our show. That is a thin line we have to walk on. Then, if you’re going to toe with someone like Morgan, they’d better be smart. They’d better have confidence and be prepared. ” us. “Even someone who is considered smarter than her and then noticed, she is underestimated. So we have to create a character and it’s fun to watch her play chess.”

Harthan hopes the reshuffle will make the show “unpredictable”.

He continued: “Morgan is a very understanding person at the heart of her. Then, she saw that the people she knows are great, but it’s a horrible thing to do with this kind of damage.” “We just wanted to make sure it hits all these notes without feeling like we’re falling into the darkest serial killer story. It’s not the show.”

Will Season 2 do something different?

“I learned [in season 1] I have this awesome actor and you can write anything. They really are. us. “With that being said, it would be a big difference in Season 2 that we don’t have sea legs yet. We haven’t really caught the surface of some of the other characters in the ensemble yet. We haven’t been home a lot. We haven’t been home yet. We haven’t dug out their backgrounds and how they get into the places in life – like all their experiments, suffering and relationships.”

At the time, Harthan laughed at how Season 2 would provide “a rich and fertile venue” to expand the exhibition.

“We’re happy to write some other characters. But, I think the biggest knowledge of how we structure these plots is why we care about why you care about this particular situation, or not only with Morgan, but with every character,” he told us. “It’s making sure we’re not lazy with those stories that we tell every week. I’m trying to think of each plot as my own little movie, and this year, we have the luxury of the lessons we’ve learned – good and bad – and plan and curate the seasons so we don’t waste any of these episodes. How many plots, we end up with their little movies, just like their little movies.”
