Murder charges for shooting “American Idol” executive and husband

A 22-year-old man was accused of killing a “American Idol” music supervisor and her musician husband on Thursday, who walked into Encino’s home during the burglary.
Raymond Boodarian is accused of fatal shooting of Robin Kaye and her husband, Tom DeLuca, although LA police didn’t find their bodies discovered by LA police until four days later, and four days later, officers were taken home to make welfare checks.
Boodarian was charged with two counts of murder and raised the charge of allegedly killing the couple during the robbery, intentionally using a firearm and committing multiple murders. He was also charged with burglary.
Boodarian was ordered to jail during his initial appearance in Van Nuys Thursday afternoon. His arraignment was postponed until August 20.
If convicted, if prosecutors seek death penalty, Buaudrian will face life without parole or be sentenced to death.
According to police, Boodarian is believed to have visited Encino’s house internally.
LAPD Lieutenant Guy Golan said LAPD responded to a report on a possible break-in at 4 p.m. on July 10 and determined that nothing was inappropriate in the couple’s residence.
The walking police report said the property was locked and no one responded inside, while the police helicopter overhead reported seeing nothing suspicious.
The bodies of Kaye and Deluca were found Monday when police officers conducted welfare checks at the couple’s home in the 4700 block of White Oak Avenue. The next day, officers from the joint task force with LAPD/FBI arrested Boodarian.
According to police, Kaye, the music director of American Idol, and her rock musician husband, Deluca, returned to the $4.5 million Encino home when they came to Booderian had already entered the interior.
The Budria allegedly shot Kai and Druka several times before fleeing, locking the door behind him. Police said the suspect managed to enter through the unlocked door, despite the couple’s house being reinforced.
According to Golan, the department received a call at 4 p.m. the day the couple died, and the caller described a person climbing into the property on the fence. Golan said the officer went home but received no response and saw nothing while the helicopter was flying because it was difficult to get into the property.
By then, the couple had been killed, LAPD officials said. Boodarian left half an hour later, police said.
The delay in finding the bodies of Kaye and DeLuca is similar to two other homicides in the valley, where police were called the site, and the victim was not immediately found and left the scene.
Investigators said the body of Menashe Hidra was found in his apartment on April 26 in his fifth-floor Valley Village apartment after an attacker broke into a nearby unit, jumped from a balcony to his unit and attacked him.
Three days ago, neighbors called 911 and reported hearing shouts and struggles in the apartment. The officer responded to the calls, knocked down the door and found nothing. Erick Escamilla, 27, was eventually charged with murder and unrelated homicides since 2022.
On the same day as Sidra’s body was found, police found the body of Aleksandre Modebadze, who was beaten to death at his home in Woodland Hills. In that case, a woman called LAPD at home around 12:30 a.m. and reported that three people broke into her house and beat her other important things before the phone was suddenly cut off. The 911 operator tried to call back multiple times without success. Sources told The Times that shortly before 1 a.m., police arrived at the home, but no one answered the door, there was no noise inside the house, and the blinds fell down.
Later, the officer was severely beaten for head injuries and eventually died from injuries. Hours after the incident, authorities discovered the alleged killer of Modebadze.
In this Encino case, Golan said the department will investigate why the 70-year-old couple was not found and whether the participants took appropriate action. During the initial response, the front door of the house was not visible outside.
Boodarian was charged with three misdemeanor batteries last year, according to court records. The allegations were eventually abandoned a series of hearings related to his psychological competence and investigation of protective measures.
