Pope demands world peace in hospital

Pope Francis, while fighting severe double pneumonia, wrote Sunday prayers in the hospital bed calling for world peace, saying that “war seems even more ridiculous.”

Due to the papal’s illness, the speech was distributed only in writing.

The spiritual leaders of the world’s 1.4 billion Catholics are praying in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo while demanding war-torn areas.

The 88-year-old has been at the Jegli Hospital in northwestern Rome since mid-February.

Francis’ illness once again prevented him from holding Sunday prayers at St Peter’s Square – for the first time during his twelve-year tenure he missed them for the third consecutive week.

He set out from the hospital and expressed his gratitude in writing, recovering from all over the world with prayers and wishes.
