Popular deodorant recalls affect over 67,000 cases at Walmart, Amazon and the Dollar Tree

The popular deodorant brands have been recalled due to differences in established manufacturing procedures.

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and AP Deauville conducted voluntary recalls of 67,000 power rod deodorants due to “CGMP bias,” a difference in current good manufacturing practice regulations is the difference in FDA oversight.

The recall was first prompted last Thursday (July 10) and applies to more than 20,000 cases of the brand’s “power fresh”-scented Power Stick for Her Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant, over 22,400 cases of its “spring fresh”-scented Power Stick Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant, and more than 23,400 cases of the brand’s Power Stick Original Nourishing Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant.

Deodorant is available at Walmart, where customers can buy three packs for $21, and on the Dollar Tree, a pack of 24 packs of deodorant for $30. Customers can also purchase deodorant from Amazon.

Over the past two years, the recall rate has been shocking and unexplainable. A public interest research team report shows that in 2024, about 300 food recalls were issued, which were linked to nearly 1,400 diseases.

Of the 1,400 diseases, 487 people were sick enough to require hospitalization and 19 died. While these numbers remain low when weighing against the overall U.S. population, in 2023, they will also double the number of hospitalizations and deaths.

The latest food recall is a recall of all Yocrunch products Danone US offers on the market on Friday, after customers reported plastic works in the bowler hats that feature both dome finishes and a variety of sweets like Oreos or M&M’s. Sharp plastic debris can be a suffocation hazard or pose other risks.

The recall does not apply to the yogurt itself, but only to the yogurt topping container.

From July 7 to September 4, many batch numbers and expiration dates are involved in the recall. A complete list of affected products can be found here.
