Miss Ole soccer player Corey Adams was killed in Tennessee shooting

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that Miss Ole’s freshman football player Corey Adams was killed in a shooting in Tennessee.
Law enforcement officers found Adams had gunshot wounds inside a vehicle late Saturday at an intersection in a Memphis suburb of Cordoba, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
“They provided life-saving measures until the Shelby County fire arrived,” the sheriff’s office said. “Shelby County firefighters later announced the victim died at the scene.”
Authorities said four other men who suffered non-life gunshot wounds in the incident arrived at a nearby hospital in a private vehicle.
Law enforcement officers did not name any suspects, but said they were investigating the shooting as a homicide.
Adams is an 18-year-old New Orleans native who has been one of the country’s highest defensive linemen recruits.
The University of Mississippi football program said in a social media post that learning about Adams’ death was “destructive.”
“Although our plan is trying to cope with this tragic loss, our idea is to be with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the team said. “We asked the Ole Miss community to maintain Corey’s mind and respect the privacy of all involved.”
“There is no way to describe this pain,” Adams’ former New Orleans high school soccer team Edna Karr Cougars said in a Facebook post.
“Corey Adams is more than just a football player! He is a friend, brother, son, student and the young people around him,” the team said. “We never question God, but that’s what we don’t understand.”
