Sailor, D-backs discusses Eugenio Suárez

The Mariners are one of the teams interested in the Rattlesnake Third Baseman Eugenio SuárezNew York Post’s Jon Heyman reported. Adam Jude of the Seattle Times further reported that Suárez was seen as Seattle’s top target for upgrading in the famous search corner kick in the corner. Jude added that the Mariners and D-backs held a “preliminary” discussion about Suarez, which Seattle believes is the best option for Arizona first baseman Josh Naylor.

Suárez, 34, is perhaps the most coveted bat on the trade market. He hit .257/.328/.605 on 36 home runs this season and has been an elite power hitter for the sport, which dates back to the July 2024 revival. It’s easy to forget now that given the dominance of the past Suarez in the past calendar years, a disaster began in Slugger time in Arizona. He played so badly in the first two or more months of the season that he started losing to his young game time Fire Alexander. The transition didn’t last long, as Suarez stumbled on fire.
Dating back to June 25 last season, Suárez entered 751 games and slashed .281/.341/.605 with 60 home runs, 36 doubles and triple scores. The only one Judge Aaron and Shohei Ohtani More home runs have been hit by then (66 per person). Suárez brags about left-handed and right-handed pitching. He is paying 15mm this season, which is about 5.48mm, but has not been paid as of this writing. He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
However, it is not clear that the Diamondback will trade Suarez in full. They swept the Cardinals in their first series in the All-Stars, and despite their loss to the Astros last night, they now have only one game of 0.500 and 5.5 games in the NL Wild Card Chase. The Snakes had two more games against Houston, before ending their pre-prematch games in three games in Pittsburgh and Detroit.
Arizona general manager Mike Hazen made it clear that he hopes to avoid a sell-off and serve as a buyer for the deadline this year, but with this final push, the team must perform well enough to justify the position. The Rattlers can also hang onto the qualification proposals to Suárez on him, so any trade return needs to surpass the value of a possible compensatory draft pick after the first round of the 2026 draft.

But if the Diamondbacks end up seriously considering Suarez’s weight advantage, the trade seems to be better than a draft pick. The D-Backs may compete again next season, and Suárez can provide them with some talent that can contribute late this season or early next year. Of course, the draft will be a long-term game.
In theory, the Rattlesnakes could even trade Suárez while still hoping to keep the scramble this year. There is no substitute for his huge power output, but the highest prospect Jordan Lawlar You can enter the third base character every day. Lawlar hasn’t hit a small sample of 56 major league appearances, but he has never gotten any regular game time either. He knocked out the triple A’s pitch this year, hitting .319/.410/.583 in 250 set appearances. He is currently on the minor league injury list due to hamstring pressure, but will be back soon after the deadline. Whether this year or next, the 2021 No. 6 overall draft pick may have a chance to prove that he can be a long-term Arizona pick in a hot corner.
If D-Backs sell any veterans – Suárez or other situations – they are expected to focus on stock Young pitches. On the surface, this may sound like Seattle is a particularly attractive trading partner. But M won’t be like Logan Gilbert,,,,, Brian Wo or George Kirby Rent and youth outside Logan Evansmost of their high-end pitching prospects (e.g. Ryan Sloan,,,,, Jurrangelo cijntje) Below the pipe.
This does not mean that both parties cannot queue up on the transaction. Ultimately, talent wins, and if the package offered by the Mariners are better than Yankees, Cubs and other suitors, then the position of the prospect won’t be crucial. After all, Arizona may want to reverse some of these prospects in the offseason. But if the D-backs call it two offers, which they consider to be comparable in value, it seems likely that they will lean towards including some pitching talent that may be in the Grand Slam.
The Rattlesnake is lost Corbin Burnes Tommy John was going to operate last month. He will not promote it until later in the 2026 season at the earliest. Zach Gallen and Merrill Lynch Kelly It’s a free agent at the end of the season. Internal weapons Black Walston and Tommy Henry UCL surgery was also underway earlier this season. Young right Christian Mining He has been out of the door due to shoulder pressure since June. The highest pitching prospect Yilber Diaz Minors have catastrophic seasons. Major League First Brandon Pfaadt and Eduardo Rodriguez They are all struggling. If more than the next week, adding some young weapons is a wise goal for the D-Backs front desk.
Of course, the sailors first traded Suarez to D-backs. The deal after the 2023 season was driven primarily by a license to own Seattle to reduce wages. The sailors are indeed separated from the right exchange Carlos Vargashe is now a major member of the bullpen (47 Bureau, 3.83 ERA, 11 keeping), but if it weren’t for those financial restrictions, the front desk would certainly tend to keep Slugger and his ego clubhouse. The sailor’s ownership is now willing to raise the payroll and put reunion on the table, according to reports.
