CNN analysts shocked Trump’s “the simplest problem in human history”
CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig was blown up after hearing President Donald Trump’s answers to questions about whether he would pardon sex traffickers and shut down Jeffrey Epstein’s deputy justice Ghislaine Maxwell.
“This is the simplest question in human history,” Honig told host Michael -Smerconish on Saturday.
Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of helping Epstein sexually abuse a minor girl.
On Friday, a reporter asked Trump if he would consider a pardon or a change of position after news that a second Justice Department official met with Maxwell in federal prison.
“This is something I didn’t expect,” Trump replied. “I could do that, but that’s what I didn’t expect.”
Honig expressed confusion about the answer.
“For the single worst person, or the second place after Jeffrey Epstein, the worst child sex dealer in modern history?” he said. “Absolutely not. No.”
Ultimately, Honig said, “it’s hard to imagine” that Trump would pardon Maxwell, although he noted: “Other people I know are closer to Donald Trump and those who have worked with him in the past say it’s likely to happen.”
Trump is facing escalating demands to release documents related to the late Epstein’s case as the press continues to dig into his past friendship with shameful financiers. The president left the country on Friday for a golf trip to Scotland and was questioned about Epstein from reporters before taking off and before the touchdown.
