Nikola Jokic almost retires from the NBA, Demarcus Cousins says

Demarcus Cousins recently revealed what the NBA means to Nikola Jokic compared to life outside of basketball.
Cousins had a surprising conversation with his former Denver Nuggets teammate.
“A dangerous guy,” Cousins said of three-time league MVPs in the live podcast. “What I like most about Jokic is his personality. If you have the chance to talk to him, if he tells you more about himself, he will tell the truth. He doesn’t care about any of them.
“The NBA is perhaps his second, third, and even fourth favorite thing. In most games, he comes up with those crazy stats that he doesn’t even want to be there. That’s scary. It’s crazy.”
Cousins, who played with Denver in 2022, recalled conversations about money turning into retirement talk.
“When I was in Denver, our lockers were next to each other in the locker room. I don’t remember who had just signed the extension, but I told him, ‘Your new contract will be crazy!’ He told me, “Because I might retire before the contract.” I said, “Are you going to leave $300 million on the table?
“Sign the contract and get fat and get bad. Just don’t miss $300 million!” Then he told me, “Because, I just want to go back to my hometown and relax with horses.” I told him, “Just kidding, those horses are there.
