Ultimately, Cameron Young’s wait ended as he won the Wyndham championship with his first PGA Tour victory.
Young dialed with his putt this week, which seemed to make everything, including five birdies in a row at the start of Sunday’s final round at Sedgefield Country Club.
That club has been a problem for the youngsters over the past two seasons, when he ranked in the top 140 in the stroke: putting, but this year, he entered the final week of the tenth regular season. It coincided with finding the new Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5 Tour Protige Putter this season, which seemed to help him overcome the hump.
The Phantom 9 is one of the tallest MOI mallets in the Scotty Cameron Matrix, and Young’s has a fairly clean top with a full-length line of sight. The “.5” name indicates that the tilted neck is short and can cause the toes of the pusher toes to flow more than a single-bent shaft.
Young also crashed into the booming drive with his Titleist GT2 driver. Despite his length, he entered Week 70 at SG. This week, he ranked second in stroke and second in the distance, accurately ranked the top 30 in the top 30 in the process of a huge victory.
Young is even harder in radar range and has also made a sneaky switch to golf MCC Align Max this week. Young became the second player to win with a new grip and the second player to win in the first week of change. Young had played Tour Velvet rope or Tour Velvet Align model before, so the MCC Align Max is like a mix of two styles, but with the new Align Max’s larger ridge.

driver: Titleist GT29.0˚ (A1 SureFit)
Axis: Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Orange 70 TX
Titleist GT2 custom driver
GT2 – For faces that don’t always find the center of the face and require a high-speed driver to be stable without sacrificing the stability, speed and forgiveness of speed. The speed and forgiveness of the entire face are impressively distanced from any point of influence, and the GT2 extracts maximum performance through the forgiveness design. Without sacrificing speed, stability is obtained and confidence of high-speed drivers is increased. The seamless thermal crest is a reimagined ultra-lightweight design that was born from a new proprietary matrix polymer. The adjustable acoustic properties of this unique composite allow titleist engineers to realize new material gains while maintaining our signature sound and feel. All the looks are wrapped, inspiring full confidence. Thanks to the breakthrough of internal weighting, splitting the mass structure GT2 can achieve a strong balance of forgiveness and speed. The mass is transferred to the rear of the club head to improve MOI for improved stability while also lower weight and push forward to optimize speed and rotation. The result is a driver that allows you to swing with confidence.

Titleist Vokey Wedgeworks SM10 K* Grind Custom Wedge
K Grind has long been produced in the Vokey lineup by senior artisan Bob Vokey and provides the input of top players. It is known as the “Ultimate Bullet Club” and its wide flanges and subtle chamber form a tolerant, smooth surface that is perfect for sand shooting. K* Grind represents the evolution of the original K, designed based on feedback from today’s participants seeking stronger courses. It is based on low bounce K, which modifies lenses such as heel release lenses and pedal bounces and pre-installed to reduce digging for square shots. This new design allows the club to get close to the ground when opened, improving green performance while retaining the original K Grind’s reliable bunker game. The K* Grind has 58° and 60° lofts (RH only) and has original finish.
