Just a year ago, Luka Doncic thought he would be a maverick of his life. Now, he is the Laker who travels a long distance, officially putting his pen to a maximum of three years of extension, worth up to $165 million.

“I kind of thought, obviously not the moment I was traded, but then when I started playing, I wanted to be here,” Don Sich said. “Like I said, it’s an amazing organization. We have trust with each other and honestly, I decided very quickly.”

For Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka, Saturday’s signing is more than just a contract.

“Six months ago, the Los Angeles Lakers chose Luca Doncic through a trade,” Pelinka said. “Today, Luka Doncic chose the Los Angeles Lakers.”

The extension isn’t the only thing fans buzz. Doncic is obviously slim, winning headlines for offseason conditions.

“In the first month, I didn’t play basketball at all,” Doncic explained. “We were more focused on other things. So, I thought it was really hard to have basketball for the first five days. I didn’t actually know what to do, but it was easy in that. But physically, weightlifting, balance, these things, and then a month later, we started playing basketball, too.”

As for whether the industry sparked so-called revenge institutions, Luca downplayed the idea.

“I just said, it was like a new beginning for me,” Doncic said. “Obviously, I’m doing this.” [already]but this is just a new beginning. I have more time to do other things on basketball, just do other things. So, I just want to say, it was a new beginning for me. ”

Don Sici looked up at the 17-time champion banner hanging in the gym, making his mission clear.

“Honestly, I think we have a great team,” Doncic said. “We have everything we need to go to the championship. I’m going to bring everything I can do… We’ve got some new greats on the team. We’re going to keep moving forward.”
