Scottie Scheffler vs. Substitute Caddy in Fedex St. Jude final

Scottie Scheffler’s pursuit of his 18th PGA Tour title ran into a slight hit on Saturday night as Scheffler’s regular caddie Ted Scott had to leave the tournament for a family emergency.
The news was first reported by Todd Lewis of the Golf Channel.
Lewis said in the latest news on TPC Southwind’s golf channel that Scott left Memphis after the third round ended Saturday and flew to Louisiana. Lewis also reported that two other tours early in the kick-off stage on Sunday were close to Schefler’s coach Randy Smith, providing services to Scheffler, who tied with JJ Spaun. Scheffler, who currently lags behind two strokes from leader Tommy Fleetwood, is on his final pair with Justin Rose.
According to Lewis, Schaffler called on Brad Payne, a PGA Tour pastor and long-time friend. Lewis describes Payne as a life coach and spiritual guide to the Scheffler family. Payne drove from Dallas to Memphis on Saturday to prepare for Scheffler’s Sunday round.
This is not the first time Penn has participated in Ted Scott. Payne carried a bag for Scheffler in the third round at last year’s PGA Championship when he graduated from Scott’s daughter’s high school.
Schefller TEES on Sunday at 1:30 PM ET. You can watch action on the golf channel starting at 12 p.m. ET and then perform NBC broadcasts at 3 p.m. ET.
