Golden State hopes to use Al Hoford as the frontcourt solution

The Golden State Warriors continue to be linked to veteran big shot Al Horford, who searches for frontcourt anchors next season.

According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Horford is seen internally as a “presumed starting center.”

“Horford will slide in as the supposed starting center, reducing Draymond Green’s regular season load, which is a priority,” Slater wrote. “Horford’s ability to pass and defend is perfect for the Warriors’ system. His ability to shoot from center positions is very lacking.”

Horford is about to come a season, averaging 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists while hitting nearly two 3-pointers with a score of 36.3%.

In the previous year’s Boston title, he was even more sharp in terms of Deep, with a connection rate of 41.9%. Play with Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, those open looks may automatically.

Still, there is a gamble.

“Horford is 39,” Slater added. “He is not playing both sides on both back-to-back. The Warriors can’t rely on him is a 25-minute option a night. But the desire is to get him on the lineup when it matters and open up space for the five-man group that will benefit downhill drivers like Kuminga.”

Golden State will face 15 back-to-back games this season and will be second in the NBA.

Adding Horford will also push their starting units to one of the league’s oldest units, with four core players in their 30s.
