Stewart Cink beat Ernie Els to win the Allies challenge

Big Blanke, Michigan – Stewart Cink successfully defended his title in his second PGA Tour title victory of the year, beating Ernie Els with a shared presence on the first hole of the playoffs on Sunday.
Cink finished with a 4-shot below 68 and had two birdies in the last three holes for the Els game below 201 in Warwick Hills. Els took the last five holes in 69.
“I’m not sure if it will increase or subtract your life because it’s very stressful,” Sink said. “But if you’re the winner, if you’re on that side of the matter, it feels great. It’s fun. I put a great effort on the stretch. Ernie did nothing wrong, he was in the wrong place today.”
The 52-year-old Cink won the Insperity Invitational in Texas in May, beating Retief Go in the playoffs. He won eight championships on the PGA Tour, most importantly opening in 2009.
Cink opened with 62 and shot 71 on Friday, entering the final stroke that was behind ELS.
Steven Alker (65), Cameron Percy (70) and Soren Kjeldsen (70) ranked third below 12th. Goosen (71) and Thongchai Jaidee (69) below.
