Jenny Bus admits that the Lakers have never had a player as sad as Luka Doncic’

Luka Doncic shocked the NBA world in February and, more importantly, it shocked Luka.
Team owner Jeanie Buss now says the superstar’s reaction is different from anything she’s ever seen.
“No one knows the deal will happen,” the bus told Radio 1 as she watched a stop on Doncic Play in Slovenia during the summer 2025 race. “I know, but he doesn’t. I never have a player coming to the Lakers and being as sad as he is because the deal brings him a huge surprise.”
The bus explained that the 26-year-old needed time to leave Dallas with him, the only NBA home he knew (not to mention his only home in the U.S. after being drafted/dealed in 2018).
“He’s a real person and he has to deal with what’s going on,” the bus said.[However,] I think now he embraced the Lakers – he’s all Los Angeles.”
The bus also pointed out that Doncic had a deeper connection with the Lakers, which was related to the late Kobe Bryant.
“The last time I saw Kobe Bryant still alive, he brought his daughter Gianna to the Lakers game to watch Luka because Luka is Gianna’s favorite player.” “So they’ve been connecting in some way and I know that if there’s a chance to have someone like Luka in the Lakers, it’s going to work.”
The deal that brought Don Sic to Los Angeles was described as one of the most shocking deals in league history.
Dallas critics pointed out issues about Doncic’s conditioning and long-term durability, but during the offseason, the Lakers worked hard to highlight his revival form. Doncic once again leads Eurobasket in Slovenia to provide an ideal stage to show this.
