Xander Schauffele is not on Ryder Cup due to the birth of her son

NAPPA, Calif. – Xander Schauffele has a good reason why he isn’t playing the Procore title with other Ryder Cup teammates: He is in Florida with his newborn son.
Schauffele said in a text to the Associated Press on Tuesday that his wife Maya recently gave birth to a boy named Victor.
Last year’s PGA and British Open champion Schauffele missed for two months at the start of the season, with a slow rib injury. He hasn’t won this year and missed his first nine-year tour to qualify for the Tour Championship.
He is still facing every 36 hole cuts this year and is ranked third in the Ryder Cup standings, most of which have won his two majors last year.
Schauffele told the Associated Press last month that he wasn’t sure to play NAPA, which mainly depends on when the baby was born and because he needed a break.
“If I don’t think the game will help me, I won’t play it,” he said at the BMW Championship.
Schauffele lives near four Ryder Cup teammates and captain Keegan Bradley in South Florida.
