New York Giants owner John Mara announces cancer diagnosis

New York Giants President, CEO and Co-owner John MaraAnnounced that he has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment, adding that he plans to remain active during his care.
“I was recently diagnosed with cancer and followed a treatment plan recommended by an outstanding team of doctors,” Mara, 70, said in a statement on Monday, September 29. “I feel strong and optimistic and I am committed to seeing this to achieve positive results. I plan to stay active throughout the treatment process and I am lucky to be surrounded by incredible support in person, professionally and medically. I ask you to respect my privacy this time and the privacy of my family.”
Neither he nor the team disclosed the type or stage of the cancer.
