St. Louis Public Schools part ways with Superintendent Millicent Borishade

British stone. LOUIS — After eight months as superintendent of St. Louis schools, Dr. Millicent Borishade has been removed from her position, according to the teachers union American Federation of Teachers.

Borishade was named interim superintendent in July 2024 after Dr. Keisha Scarlett was formally fired by the school board in September 2024 and placed on paid leave.

In late August, nearly 2,000 members of the AFT union signed and submitted a petition of no confidence against Borishard after she proposed closing more than half of the district’s schools amid claims the superintendent excluded educators from decision-making.
