Victor Wembanyama shares his surprising height amid rumors

The height of Victor Vembanyama is currently a hotly debated topic in league circles.
He currently stands at 7-foot-4, an increase from last season’s 7-foot-3. Since he’s so young, it’s not unusual for him to still be growing.
The rumor began when “the Spurs training camp roster revealed that his official height had increased by an inch, to 7-foot-4. The Spurs’ website then briefly listed his height as 7-5 before changing it back to 7-4, which the team said was a clerical error due to integration issues with the league’s website,” The Athletic reported.
The 7-foot-4 Boban also fueled rumors that he had to look up at Wemby when playing against him, with ESPN’s Brian Windhorst claiming he thinks the eccentric Frenchman is closer to 7-foot-7.
However, the NBA has strict measurement protocols.
“They have to prove (the measurements) are authentic,” NBA president of league operations Byron Spruell said, via The Athletic. “Even if they are re-measured, they still need certification.”
Of course, Winby himself has been asked about this hot topic in the media, but he’s confused as to why people care so much.
“The truth is, yes, sometimes I’m surprised this is still a conversation,” Wembanyama said. “Honestly, it really makes no difference. I’m taller than everyone else. That’s all you need to know.”
He wants everyone to know that his height doesn’t matter in his story.
“It has become less of a theme for me over the years,” Wembanyama said with a smile. “Because, in my mind, I have a lot more interesting things to do.”
He later added, “I really never think about my height. When people ask you, ‘What does it look like to be tall?'” It’s like, I don’t know, I’ve always been like that. “
