“I agree they were harsh on her and the two men sitting there,” Burke told the outlet, referring to Distributed WTS Judge Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.
Burke continued, “I think that’s always been the case, and she’s talked openly about how difficult it is for her. I’ve been there, but in a different way; I’ve been outspoken about something, and I do see a difference compared to men. But you don’t do it because of the outside reaction. At the end of the day, it’s her job, and she’s doing her job, and she’s doing it well.”
The dancer who competed on 20 seasons of the dance competition will return Distributed WTS Serves as a guest judge on the Tuesday, October 28, Halloween episode.

“I hope to be empowering and encouraging, but of course, I will be constructive. I have 15 seconds to speak! That will be the hardest part for me. Ultimately, I want to help these people,” she told the outlet.
Burke added, “Yes, we give them credit if they do a good job. But I think, for me, I really want to get into the technical aspects, regardless of the subject matter. I’m looking for the authenticity of two people dancing against each other, and the authenticity of the designated dance style.”

On October 15, Inaba responded to the criticism via comments on her Instagram page.
“It’s okay to disagree with what we see. That’s what makes our show great,” she wrote at the time. “You have a say in this matter. We want you to vote for what you like and believe in. I appreciate your comments and the way you express your feelings. ❤️ Thank you for your passion and opinions.”
In an interview in 2023 processionit’s not that Inaba didn’t take the strong opposition—or the boos from the audience—to heart.
“The point is we want people to have their say. People are investing in this game because they have an opinion and that’s important,” she told the outlet at the time. “We are one of the few [shows where ] The judges actually hold the score. So what we do matters, but so does what everyone does at home. So, it’s a good thing they booed. I think it shows that they are really supporting someone. “
