Next week’s ATP 250 event in Athens could decide Lorenzo Musetti’s Nitto ATP Finals fate and provide an early test for 100-match tour-level titleholder Novak Djokovic, providing fans with several interesting storylines ahead of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Greek Championship.

With one Nitto ATP Finals spot still up for grabs, Musetti is trying to keep his hopes alive in a tense PIF ATP Turin live event that could be decided in the final week of the season. Top-seeded Djokovic, meanwhile, may face a familiar foe on his own campaign in Alejandro Tabilo, one of three players to face the Serbian at least twice without losing.

Musetti, who finished eighth at the PIF ATP Live event in Turin, is aiming to make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals and join compatriot Jannik Sinner in the season finale in his hometown.

If ninth-ranked Felix Auger-Aliassime wins his semifinal at the Rolex Paris Masters on Saturday, the Canadian will move ahead of Musetti, adding weight to the 23-year-old’s appearance in Athens. Musetti will face former No. 3 Stan Wawrinka or Dutchman Botic van der Zandschulp.

Djokovic, competing for the first time since Shanghai, will face Tabilo or Australian Adam Walton in his first match. Tabilow defeated 100-match tour-level title winner Djokovic in Monte Carlo earlier this year and in Rome last season. According to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index, Djokovic holds a season record of 35-11.
