Two ’80s sci-fi favorites are merging into one universe

Recently, Skybound Entertainment (produced by The Walking Dead and Invincible Founder Robert Kirkman teamed up with Hasbro to create a energy universe Cartoon show featuring characters from Transformers and G.I. Interestingly, this is a mature cartoon and not aimed at a younger audience.
As someone who loves both series and has always been obsessed with the comic book Power Universe, I’m here to tell you that this upcoming animated series might be the best thing to happen to Transformers or G.I. Joe. Year.
A new take on an old idea

The two series have been related to each other since the ’80s: for example, they feature multiple teams in Marvel comics, and Cobra Commander also had an interesting cameo in the original Transformers cartoon. But the recent Comics Powerverse joins those franchises (as well as Kirkman’s Void opponent) is tied together more coherently by explaining how Cobra harnessed Energon to create weapons more powerful than anything ever seen on Earth. They use information and technology stolen from Megatron to accomplish this goal, pitting the villains against the Joe Family, formed to stop them, and the Decepticons, who aspire to world domination.
Now we are ready to get a suitable energy universe TV shows will revive both series. This is especially important for G.I. Joe, as the series has never quite managed to reinvent itself for a new generation. Sure, we had a couple of passable ensemble films and a by-the-numbers film snake eyes Spin-offs, but these days, the only people reading Joe comics and collecting toys are middle-aged men like me.

Of course, Transformers has fared better, spawning a string of successful live-action movies and several TV series, including fine shows like Transformers Prime and the War for Cybertron trilogy. But live-action movies have had more failures than successes, and most modern shows (like Cyberverse and EarthSpark) are aimed at children. To make matters worse, it was a box office failure Transformers One (the best Transformers movie ever) caused Hasbro to withdraw financial support for future movies based on the franchise.
Nostalgia: Transformed and Launched!

If you must call me an optimist, but that’s why I’m energy universe show: It has the potential to put Transformers and GI at the same time. Joe is back on the map in a huge way. Their shared comic universe has been a hit so far, and the animation team seems likely to resonate with a wider audience. After all, this is an era where shared universes like the Marvel Universe completely dominate the entertainment landscape, so bringing two of the world’s most recognizable brands together to create a beautiful new animated feature is truly a no-brainer.
Furthermore, it would be wise to aim for energy universe A show for old fans: Robert Kirkman’s own Invincible The series has proven that there is a major market for adult animation, especially those that adapt properties of established genres. In this case, fans of Transformers and especially GI Joe are mostly older, so it only made sense to create a new show that catered to more mature sensibilities. With any luck, it will have a tone similar to Special Forces: Resolutean adult-oriented web series created by comics legend Warren Ellis.
Energon The universe feels tactile

Finally, I’m excited energy universe series, because the comics it adapts took some significant creative risks, most of which have paid off. For example, in these comics, Baroness joins the Joe family and Optimus Prime replaces his missing limbs with Megatron’s cannon arms. If done right, this show could be the best of both worlds: an animated reunion of the biggest hits from the ’80s, and a revival that takes a chance and breathes new life into each series.
Apart from this fact Lucifer’s Joe Henderson will serve as showrunner, but we don’t know much about it energy universe. Based on its comic book lineage (Robert Kirkman’s Lightning twice and Invincible and The Walking Dead) and the quality of the issues it will be based on, I believe this upcoming series will be the best thing that has ever happened to either series.

For this ’80s kid whose shelves were filled with Joey and Transformers toys, Kirkman clearly Knows what he’s doing with these characters. And knowing that, well, that’s half the battle!
