Teresa Nester explains how she copes with stress after reading Gerry Turner’s book

“I want to talk about stress. I want to talk about how much stress can be — a little bit of stress can be a lot, but a lot of stress and a lot of chronic stress can really take a toll on your body,” Theresa, 72, shared in an Instagram video on Sunday, November 9.

Teresa explained that when she’s particularly overwhelmed, she tends to “take a deep breath” and think about “all the good things” in her life that she’s “grateful” for – including her family.

“Oh my gosh, I have so much to be grateful for. I’m so grateful for all my friends, my job, my home, and gosh, I can live on the streets,” Teresa continued. “So it’s always possible that things are worse than they are. So the first thing is to be grateful for what you have and fill your soul with how good things feel.”

Teresa noted that she was also lying on her “incline” while saying, “This too shall pass.”

“That’s how it always goes,” she said, encouraging followers to “take control” of their stress.

Teresa’s video was released just days after Gerry detailed their relationship and divorce in his book, The Golden Years: What I Learned About Love, Loss, and Reality TV. In the book, Gerry writes about feeling “trapped” the night before his wedding to Teresa in 2024. Meanwhile, Teresa reacted to Gerry’s book on the Dear Shandy podcast, claiming her ex-husband never talked to her about his feelings before the wedding. Teresa admitted she would be “relieved” if he did.

“I have to say, I always say I like to live my life without regrets, but gosh, I made some mistakes here. I regret getting married so quickly. It shouldn’t have happened,” Teresa shared on the Tuesday, November 4, show.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Teresa noted that it would “do no good” for her to go ahead with the wedding when Gerry had his doubts. Teresa added in her message to Gerry, “You should cancel the wedding.”

Gerry further made his hesitation public during an appearance. Tamron Pavilion Show —even comparing a wedding to a funeral.

“It was butterflies and a funeral to look forward to, not a wedding,” Gerry said on the Monday, Nov. 3 show, which recounted the night before he married Theresa. “I have mixed emotions. I had just come out of a high-speed artificial environment and I was at the end and I was wondering if I was doing the right thing.”

“I mean, early on and most of the book, I was so complimentary of Teresa and all the women and the relationships I had with her and so on,” Gerry shared. “But the rest of the story is, when she said on the show that she was ready to quit, and then said she wanted to keep working, I knew deep down that compromise wasn’t going to work.”

Gerry has since moved on Lana Suttonto whom he announced his engagement in October.
