Nico Harrison, the general manager of the nasty Mavericks, issued a statement after Kyrie Irving was injured.
Mavericks guard Irving tore his ACL in a 122-98 loss from the Sacramento Kings, who ended his season.
“There is no word that fully describes what Kyrie Irving means to this team or to him as an organization,” Harrison said through Shams Charania. “Kyrie is the core and soul of this team.”
The Mavericks acquired Irving from the Internet in February 2023, marking a disastrous term for the doomsday that has been undermined by many disproportionate off-court controversy (if you ask the average NBA fan today).
Irving then helped Dallas win the Western Conference Championship in 2024 and reach the NB finals to face the Celtics.
“His work ethics and absolute dedication to his craft were cut from the great cloth. I know, I live, I see the same ferocity and passion he saw in (Hall of Fame defender) Kobe (Bryant),” Harrison said, seemingly suggesting his past collaboration with Bryant’s Nike.
Criticism of Harrison is inevitable at present.
Since Harrison planned the Luka Doncic’s trade, people have also blamed him for this, given that Irving has increased in Doncic’s absence.
Some NBA fans even pointed out all the players he let go during his tenure, including Luca, Jaylen Brunson, Christapus Pozingis and Quentin Grimes.
Kevin O’Connor of the ringtone responded to Kyrie’s injury Tuesday and did not laugh at his words.
“Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont needs to fire Nico Harrison today,” O’Connor said in the podcast.
He added: “They need to close [Anthony Davis] For the rest of the season. ”
