Pluribus takes on AI, Easter eggs hidden in credits

Apple TV premieres first two episodes of Vince Gilligan’s new show, pruribusOn November 7, 2025, eagle-eyed fans noticed a poignant message in the producer’s closing credits. “This show was made by humans,” the end credits say. The announcement makes Gilligan the latest person to weigh in on the use of generative artificial intelligence in filmmaking.

“I hate AI,” he said in an interview, comparing it to a ruminating cow: “endlessly chewing crap.” He explained that the machines used to create generative AI consume huge amounts of energy and resources but produce “plagiarism.”

Gilligan is not alone. ’80s sitcom star Justine Bateman sponsors the CREDO 23 film festival, which only accepts entries that don’t use artificial intelligence. CREDO 23’s board of directors includes Juliette Lewis, with Giovanni Ribisi also participating. Gilligan also pointed out frankenstein Director Guillermo del Toro is another major director who has shunned AI, saying he would “rather die” than use it in his films. Gilligan responded by calling del Toro a “national treasure.”
