Authorities closed the 5 Freeway in Burbank on Saturday after a shooting left a police dog injured.
Burbank police told CBS Los Angeles that authorities closed the highway after a suspect shot a police dog while trying to arrest him around 8 p.m.
The K-9’s condition was unknown late Saturday night, but KTLA-5 reported the dog had been taken to the hospital.
Burbank police did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but said in X’s social media post that officers were searching for the suspect in the 2400 block of Buena Vista Street and surrounding neighborhoods and urged people to stay indoors and avoid the area.
The closure caused significant traffic delays, according to KTLA.
