Sheriff’s detectives ask for help from anyone who can identify stolen ringtones

Does this photo remind you?

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department discovered a large brass bell while executing a search warrant last month, but detectives had trouble identifying its owner.

The top of the clock features a decorative eagle that stands on two legs and can be placed on a tabletop. Exact dimensions and weight were not immediately available.

“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking additional identifying information on this item to assist in the investigation and return it to its owner,” the department said in a special missing persons advisory.

The department did not say where or from whom the bell was found.

Investigators said it may have been stolen for scrap metal.

A scrap metal theft has darkened large swaths of Los Angeles, including the famed Sixth Street Viaduct, where thieves stole copper wires that connect lights.
