According to documents obtained, Stern, 68, was formally charged on Monday, January 12, with “engaging in and consenting to engage in prostitution” in Ventura County, California. US Weekly. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13.
According to police documents obtained by TMZ on January 9, the actor was at a hotel in Camarillo, California, on December 10, 2025, when law enforcement issued him a prostitution summons. Stern has not been detained or arrested in connection with the incident, according to the report.
“It is my understanding that he was summoned at the scene and released,” the lawyer and spokesman Joey Butita Tell people then.
US Weekly Representatives for Stern have been contacted for comment.
Stern stars alongside notorious ‘Wet Bandit’ groom Joe Pesci and Macaulay Culkin 1990s home alone and its subsequent sequel, 1992’s Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He is already married to his wife, Raul MatosMarried for the first time since 1980, the couple most recently renewed their vows in a surprise ceremony during a 2019 episode of the show The Ellen DeGeneres ShowThey had three children together: daughters Ella and Sophie, and son Henry Stern, a California senator.
In October 2025, Stern made headlines when he was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical emergency. Firefighters evaluated him at his California home and he was eventually transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later released, TMZ reported. A rep later confirmed that the “Wonder Years” alum was in good health.
Stern is not the first home alone Star faces legal trouble. Devin RattrayThe actor, who played Culkin’s brother in two movies, was arrested in December 2021 after he allegedly pushed, punched and pressed his ex-girlfriend on her throat and mouth during a drunken argument at an Oklahoma City hotel. He was later charged with felony domestic assault and battery by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault and battery.
Rattray, who was released on $25,000 bail, initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to avoid jail time. He eventually pleaded guilty in February 2024 to two counts of domestic violence. He was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to complete a batterer intervention program and undergo a drug/alcohol evaluation, according to court documents.
“I am relieved that this chapter of my life is coming to an end, but the scars and trauma will never fully heal,” Rattray’s ex-girlfriend, who did not attend the hearing, read a statement during the court proceedings. “No one should have to endure the fear and pain I experienced at the hands of someone they once cared about.”
“I want to make it clear that even one incident of domestic violence is one too many,” she continued. “No one should have to endure the physical and emotional abuse I experienced. I hope that by speaking out and sharing my story, I can encourage others to seek help and speak out against domestic violence. I want to send the message that abusers will face consequences for their actions and that victims deserve to be heard and believed.”
