Green explained that he and Arnold, 56, bonded when they were in their 20s. “I had this guy that I was attracted to and he said to me, ‘You can’t tell anyone,'” he recalled. “I think for me, it really triggered the thought of, ‘Oh, okay. I’m not good enough for all this. You don’t even want your friends to know you’re hanging out with me.'”
However, the actor had mixed feelings when Arnold showed up and wanted to tell people about their relationship.
“At some point, things took a little turn, and all of a sudden, she was like, cool with it. But I think, somewhere in the back of my mind, I had a subconscious shift of, ‘Oh, this isn’t a real relationship. This is just a thing that we’re doing,'” he recalled. “Maybe now her perspective has changed, but it didn’t even start in a healthy way.”
While Green and Arnold ultimately didn’t work out, he said he still had “love” for her and they remained friends over the years.
“That’s my daughter. I will always support her. She has always supported me,” he said, adding that he didn’t want anyone to think he was talking “badly” about her.
Before Green sat down with Cole, Arnold was a guest on last month’s “Funny Getting to Know You” podcast. During the sit-down, she revealed that she and Green dated in the past and what led to their breakup.
“I told him. I said, ‘The reason we got to the end of the road is because I saw you dating all these black women. Now that you date me, you’re not going to end up with a black woman. You’re going to share your wealth and your legacy with white people. So I’m getting off.’ I told you I loved the ending,” she said, adding that Greene is “a really good guy.”
Arnold shared that she “knew it wasn’t going anywhere” but had a “great experience” with Green. Their connection also confirmed that she was primarily attracted to black men.
“I’m just attracted to black people, it’s my instinct,” she admits. “It depends on everything, just the pheromones, the smell, whatever.”
Green admitted on Wednesday that he dated black women during that time because of his involvement in the hip-hop music industry.
“I was doing hip-hop clubs. I would go to all the places where hip-hop existed. So, when you date someone, you’re usually dating the people around you,” he explained. “I dated most black women at the time because we had common interests. We had things to do together.”
After forming relationship with Martin, Green continued dating Vanessa Marcil before he got married Megan Fox 2004. After divorcing Foxx in 2020, Green moves on with current partner Shanna Burgess.
In Arnold’s case, her previous marriage was Ramon Brewster 1991 to 1995 and Darric HeinFrom 2012 to 2016.
