‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’ Trailer Gives Adam Words and Power

Author: Jennifer Asensio Published
As a child of the 1980s, my weekday afternoons after school were filled with consumption of the fantasy cartoon trilogy that dominated children’s culture at the time. The trilogy includes Sheila, Princess of Power and thundercatsstarting from the following phenomenon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
In an effort to revive ’80s nostalgia, the first trailer New to Amazon Mastersuniverse has been released.
storyteller Amazon’s first He-Man trailer

The film’s trailer begins with a voiceover explaining that the fantasy elements of the world of Eternia are real, while CGI shows off its structures, spaceships, and magic. The voiceover comes from Adam, who appears as a young man in this CGI universe and then as a young man in a completely drab, normal Earthling bedroom. According to the trailer, he was sent by his mother to a place where he would not be discovered.
Of course, that place is Earth, where we see a montage of dreary things, like Adam’s office job (complete with a nameplate with pronouns) and a co-worker who appears to be his boss taking offense to his “obsession with nerdy stuff.”

Adam was apparently looking for a power sword he found at a hobby shop.

It draws Teela to pick him up in a spaceship and take him home to save the planet.

We then get a series of action scenes and the Queen’s urgent explanation as to why she sent Adam away. The villains Skull and Evil Lynn are also lurking as menacingly as ever. We even got to see the famous transformation and some footage of He-Man himself, proving that this origin story is about more than just surfing Dracula, we’ll be seeing a lot of superheroes in the movie.
Wait, we’re doing real-world stuff again?

The first, most striking thing about Adam in the trailer is that he no Overly muscular, although Prince Adam certainly is. We see He-Man at the end of the trailer, and he’s a little lanky, but nothing like the Mattel toy designed for the cartoon.
This Adam is not the spoiled, lazy prince that creeps Teela out like in the show, but a Chosen One eagerly awaiting his great destiny.

Apparently, the world of Eternia is so rich, and I’ve always wondered about the filmmakers’ obsession with shoehorning “our world” into it. Dolph Lundgren version master of the universe This was also done in 1987. When we sit down to watch cartoons, we want to escape from the real world. It’s disappointing that Dolph Lundgren’s film did this, and it’s disappointing that they did it again.

Some of the CGI is overwhelming and cartoony looking, but I’m not going to lie: some of it looks really cool. The trailer shows us fantastic vistas, futuristic cities, ancient castles, and magical feats. Unlike a lot of CGI that looks like animated sequences from Mary Poppins Returns, master of the universe It seems like they are part of the world.

The trailer does a good job of glossing over the more well-known names in the cast, with only Idris Elba appearing as the man-at-arms. Behind newcomers Nicolas Galizin (Adam) and Camila Mendes (Teela) are Morena Baccarin (Grey Skull), Alison Brie (Evil Lyn) and Jared Leto (Skull).

Speaking of Skull, his makeup is pretty cool too, much better than when Frank Langella played him in 1987. He looks less like a bumbling cartoon villain and more like a terrifying tyrant.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for “Battle Cats,” which looks like a reject for Jon Favreau’s “live-action” show. lion king.
He-Man has He/Him pronouns, is it a joke or an act of activism?

I can’t go without further mentioning Adam’s nameplate. I wonder if his apparent display of he/him pronouns was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. This is either another sign of injecting radicalism into storytelling, or master of the universe is satirizing it.
After all, the hero of this movie is called “He-Man.” He-Man is what every boy wants to be, a symbol of masculine heroism and might makes right, which is why his pronouns are so strong for me.

However, master of the universe Placing pronouns on Adam’s desk might just be an attempt to poke fun at pronouns and the banality of corporate life. He-Man is a stark contrast to the “modern hero” because he unquestionably embodies all the virtues of masculinity. If Hollywood is prepared to poke fun at its radicalism, perhaps this is a sign that movies will return to story rather than “message.”
However, the trailer doesn’t really hint at anything, preferring to dazzle viewers with special effects and fight scenes. Aside from Prince Adam’s backstory and some graphical twists, there’s nothing bad about what we’ve seen so far. So hopefully master of the universe It won’t be another franchise ruined by modern Hollywood.
How He-Man started

in its original form, Seaman The story follows Prince Adam of Eternia and his secret, superhero-like identity as He-Man, a muscular, shirtless barbarian who wields a magical sword. With the help of his friends Battle Cat, Armed Warrior, Teela and the Witch of Castle Grayskull, He-Man defends Eternia against the sinister plot of the terrifying skull-faced Skrull and his super-villain minions.
The show is interesting because it combines all the best things about fantasy and science fiction of the era: magic swords, sorceresses and evil wizards, ray guns, spaceships and alien planets. He-Man, as a character, is the archetypal male fantasy hero, full of muscle and prophecy. His backstory is that he was the spoiled son of a planetary king and queen who was given a magical power sword to defend Earth and the universe from the Skrulls’ evil magic, making him a better person.
Movie master of the universe It will be released in theaters on June 5, 2026.
