Sen. Mitch McConnell, 83, hospitalized with flu-like symptoms

It’s unclear how long McConnell is expected to stay in the hospital.
US Weekly Representatives for McConnell have been contacted for comment.
The politician has been publicly sharing his health struggles for years, and the recent fall in a Capitol hallway in Washington, D.C., was witnessed and filmed by reporters.
WHAS11, a local news outlet in Louisville, Kentucky, shared a video of the incident via its YouTube account on October 17, 2025, which also captured McConnell walking with the help of a colleague before falling.
The fall came as McConnell was being questioned about his views on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
His fall at the Capitol was the third public fall in 2025, and the politician had two public falls at the Capitol in total.
McConnell also suffered a public concussion in 2023 after tripping and falling inside the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington. He was wheelchair-bound for his recovery, NBC News reported at the time.
He has also demonstrated public freeze-out incidents over the years, some of which were captured by the news media at press conferences. The outcome of these events left McConnell completely unresponsive in the face of questioning.
McConnell has been a Kentucky congressman since 1985 and is currently in his seventh Senate term. He also served as Senate Republican Conference Leader from 2007 to 2025. He announced last year that he would not seek re-election in 2026.
